… Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Do you have a person in your life you feel has everything and as a result you find it hard to find the right gift for them? Often times we present them with gifts anyway just to show that we care for them. This sentiment is magnified here in this scripture. The wise men came in search of a king. Surely they knew that even a new born earthly king probably didn’t need the gifts they presented. But the action is one of reverence and respect. This is how we offer our gifts and talent to Christ. It is not that he needs anything from us. We offer all that we are because of our reverence and awe for the king of all creation.
