Luke 2:29-31
Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples…
How interesting that the righteous man Simeon would notice Jesus as the salvation God has prepared in the presence of all people. At that moment nothing could have been less accurate. For most they saw a common Jewish boy, born to common Jewish parents, from a common Jewish town which was pretty much oblivious to the rest of the world. However the life and teaching that would follow this moment would shine out leading humans souls to salvation like a lighthouse tower to lost sailors. Soon God’s secret plan of salvation begun in Israel would be know the world around.
As we reflect on the coming of Christ our hearts should be thankful that God’s plan to redeem humanity has been made know to us. And let us look forward with hope to the day when God’s plan of salvation is completed publicly for all creation to behold.
